The Pheasant Tail is one of the most well known nymphs in the fly fishing world. It has earned this place because it is a pattern that just works, nearly everywhere and everytime. It is the more realistic looking cousin of the Frenchie.  Just like the Frenchie, The Pheasant Tail does a great job mimicking most nymphs particularly mayflies. What makes this fly special is the how natural it looks in the water. A trout will not think twice before eating this fly. The Pheasant tail is tied on a jig hook designed to ride point side up. I love using this pattern paired with it's more flashy looking cousin, the Frenchie.
